Since 2009, both the Iberian Citadel and the entire historical and archaeological heritage of the municipality of Calafell have been managed by the Calafell Castle Foundation Autonomous Municipal Agency. The Agency reports to Calafell Council’s Department of Culture and its main governing body is the Executive Council, chaired by the Mayor and the Councillor for Culture.
The Agency’s staff comprises a manager, two technicians (one in the field of education and activities, the other in that of archaeological conservation and research), six educators and one clerical worker.
We are a young team with a great deal of enthusiasm and professionalism. We seek to use and promote the town’s historic heritage as a quality resource for education and tourism. Every year, we provide a wide range of activities for both formal and informal education, which we are continuing to improve and expand on, to reach all kinds of public. At the same time, we are also coordinating two European projects, one in the field of education and the other in that of culture, to carve out a place in Europe and be able to learn and apply efficient educational resources to help learn about, understand and enjoy the past.
